Teaching bible story to the kids- Jesus Feeds Five Thousand People

For the month of May, Kids Church introduced the new series EPIC.

If you are wondering what EPIC is, it is simply mean grand heroic acts. This series will help us to continue to look at Jesus’ miracles and see how EPIC they are!

By the end of this series, we should have learned more about Jesus Christ.

I am in- charged with the arts and crafts and since our lesson is how Jesus feeds the multitude, I chose the activity that kids can easiky relate the heroic act of our Provider and that’s Jesus Christ.

Our Power Truth for week 1: Jesus is our provider; we have everything we need.

Our Power Verse: John 6:35 Jesus replied, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never be hungry again. Whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.

Jesus feeds 5,000 is also referred to as the fishes and loaves miracle. This is a quick and easy craft so the kiddos will remember your Bible lesson.

Directions:

  • Color and cut out each piece.
  • Glue the fish and loves behind the basket in a random order.
  • Glue the whole thing onto a piece of construction paper or cardstock.
  • Cut out the whole figure.

Teaching kids bible stories – The Creation

For the upcoming Earth Day on the 22nd, I might share this simple activity we made for the Preschool and Primary of our Kids Church.

This month we have our new series entitled – In the Beginning. It will be about how everything was perfectly made by God. By the end of this series, We hope that kids will have learned to appreciate how God planned out our salvation right from the very start, when sin entered the world through Adam and Eve.

For our first week we discussed the Creation and how God formed the universe and everything in it.

I was assigned to do the arts and craft. Unfortunately, our Macbook was still in the repair shop that time so I need to go to the internet cafe and let them print the coloring book.

That same day was the worst sandstorm I’ve experienced. In fact, UAE residents were forced to stay indoors as strong winds kicked up sandstorms, reduced visibility and made the sea rough.

can’t hardly see the buildings

cars are driving too slow because if the zero visibility

first time to experienced worst sandstorm

Moving on, since the topic was The Creation I opted to make mini booklet of how God created the world. I intentionally made the words missing for the kids to fill up. The purpose of this is that not only they will color the pages but eventually they will remember the seven day creations upon writing the answers.

Once done they can bring it home and can read it over and over again.

This will also helps them learn about the greatness, power, and beauty of our Creator. Happy Creation Book-ing! 🙂

The Story of Ananias and Sapphira – Acts 5 : 1-11

Our series for this month is entitled TEST. We will be talking about people who experienced tests in the New Testament.

We are now on the third week of our series and I will be teaching the Test of Truthfulness. My topic is related to the story of Ananias and Sapphira and how they failed the test. You can read the scriptures from Acts 5 : 1-11

There are three reasons why they failed:

1. THEY DECEIVED THE PEOPLE. Acts 5:2 He brought part of the money to the apostles, claiming it was the full amount. With his wifes consent, he kept the rest. Instead of giving all the money they got from selling their property, Ananias and Sapphira decided to keep part of the money. They tried to deceive people by pretending they were giving the full amount. Slide04 2. THEY GAVE IN TO TEMPTATION. Acts 5:3 Then Peter said, Ananias, why have you let Satan fill your heart? You lied to the Holy Spirit, and you kept some of the money for yourself. Ananias and Sapphira were tempted by Satan to keep part of the money for themselves. The problem was not when they were tempted. The problem is that they gave in to the temptation. Giving in to temptation means actually doing the sinful thing. Temptation is not a sin but when we give in to temptation, it becomes a sin. Slide10 Slide19 3. THEY LIED TO GOD. Acts 5:4 The property was yours to sell or not sell, as you wished. And after selling it, the money was also yours to give away. How could you do a thing like this? You werent lying to us but to God! It was Ananias’ and Sapphira’s choice whether or not to sell the property. What was sinful was when they chose to pretend that they were really giving the whole amount from the sale of their property. But we all know that they didn’t fool God because God saw everything they did. Slide13 Slide21 For arts and craft I’ve prepared a simple craft that mainly focus on our power verse. Proverbs 12:22 – The Lord detests lying lips but he delights those who tell the truth. photo 4 I printed facial features which I got it free from picklebum.com and I loved how this funny faces will help the kids grasp our lesson easily. photo 1 photo 3  photo 5

And that is God give us the power to tell the truth…

Teaching kids about bible – Jacob gets Esau’s birthright (Genesis 25: 19-34)

So here’s a long overdue post. I’m sure this is not new anymore and you’re used to the delays by now. No worries, I’ll make this worth your time.

I am proud to say that Daddy A is now part of Kids Ministry and I am so elated to share his first teaching. This is so precious to me and our family. For most of you who doesn’t know my husband, he’s the typical shy guy who is so afraid talking in front of so many people. But believe me pagdating sa kulitan wala kang panalo sa kanya except syempre saken na mas malakas many-asar!haha

Supposed to be he should be observer muna but Teacher Marina asked him if he can teach the Level 1 since he already know how things goes every Friday. He was hesitant to accept the responsibility but with me boosting his confidence he said yes.

Side kwento muna – the night before his schedule he had a car accident in the middle of Emirates Road that lead us to stay outside till 3am in the morning. It was a long story that deserves a separate post but the good thing is he’s alive and nobody get hurt. And since he’s so puyat parang he wants to give up his schedule and he asked me if I can replace him since he’s not prepared and was saddened by the accident. And because I don’t want to stressed him out I said yes and I prepared my lesson buti na lang favorite story ko si Esau and Jacob. The next day to my surprise he was very busy doing his lesson and the activity,he said that the holy spirit spoke to him and made him realized na baka it was the enemy trying to control him to follow his hearts desire of serving God through teaching.

Fast forward the story, he executed well. It maybe his first time but while watching him sharing his insights to the kids, I thanked God for giving me a husband who has a desire to have a deeper relationship with HIM.

The lesson is about the twin brother Esau and Jacob and how Jacob used the situation to cheat to his brother so he can get the birthright. The aim of the story is to show that greed and selfishness can cause trouble to the families.

For the presentation he make it simple. You can never go wrong with toys as illustration. It was such a hit to the kids and everyone were really interested. To increase child’s participation thanks to Teacher Claire who also prepared a role-playing by using simple props and letting the kids re-enact the story. Their tandem was really a blast!

For the arts and crafts -He used paper plate and cut a heart shape in the center of the plate. Then he let the kids enjoyed doing the design using the red construction paper. Since I always wanted to work with the fine motor skills I suggested that the decors should be a small piece of papers para kids can use their pincer grasp and can work with the gluing.

And for the memory verse (Psalm 51:10) Create in me a clean heart O God..

Jesus Miracles – The Healing of Paralytic Man

Teaching kids the word of God can be more fun when it is incorporated with creative teaching and bible crafts.

Couple of weeks ago I was assigned along with my co- Teacher Don to teach one of Jesus miracles. We were supposed to teach 5-6 years old but then we all agreed to combined na din yung 3-4 years old. Teacher Clarisse prepared a movie clip that narrates the story of The Healing of the Paralytic Man.

The kids were all attentive watching the story and they were all amazed how Jesus forgive and healed the man.

The story is about faith. And how faith works. It teaches us two things (1) the persistence of the four friends. Their faith is demonstrated by their creativity, boldness and persistence to open the roof. They allowed nothing to stop them just to helped their paralytic friend (2) the power of the Lord. Jesus was filled with the power to heal. In Luke 5- 17-26 it is stressing that Jesus is a God empowered man. He is filled and led by the holy spirit.

After the movie there were a brief discussion with Teacher Clarisse where she asked the kids some questions about the story. Infairness naman with them as in very behave silang lahat at lahat ay nakinig and nakasagot. Special thanks to Teacher Marina super galing mag discipline.

Since I am responsible with memory verse and bible craft I prepared a very simple activity. I downloaded handprint from google and each kid will write the name of the persons they want to pray all the time. Di ba kasi we always asked for Jesus to lay his healing hands to us whenever na nagkakasakit tayo or when we prayed for someone close to us we always touched them and comfort them with our hands. As being said our hands is used for praying, loving and touching not for hurting.

Children should be taught to pray at a young age. and this craft will remind them thay they can pray any time and by faith we can have the promises of Gods Word.
