Food Review – The Ultimate DADS World Buffet..

There are a few things some of us take seriously in this country.
Basketball. Boxing. The weather. Politics. Showbiz. Pancake. Maple Syrup. Adobo recipe(Filipinos love this dish!).

And Food buffet..

Last August 26, 2015 DADS Kamayan Saisaki Restaurant offers a A SPECIAL 50% DISCOUNT  to all the guests on ALL DADS BRANCHES.

This promotion marked their milestones, memories, and merrymaking throughout 38 years in the food and hospitality business. The offer is valid for one day only and a GROUP OF 6 is all you need.

This Half Price Treat is Strictly Pre-booked and Pre-paid.

We booked the 5-7pm dinner schedule. Dad’s Ultimate Buffet has been there for the longest time. I remember their branch in Megamall way back college days.

Until now, a lot of people still go there to sample dishes from 3 renowned restaurants.

You can enjoy the dishes from 3 restaurants namely:

  • Dad’s – Continental
  • Kamayan – Filipino
  • Saisaki – Japanese

With over 200++ food choices, why settle for anything less, or more perhaps? If there is anything that I really like about eating here is not just the food, but the entire ‘experience’ in dining.

I loved the varieties of the desserts. Too many to choose from and all of them are truly rich in flavours.

My boys enjoyed the on the spot crepe making.

The verdict- Over all I can say that the staff are very friendly that they give a warm, welcoming presence to the entire venue.

I think this is one of their strengths on why they still made it all these years and why a lot of their customers just keep coming back. Kudos to the company for having such great people working for you guys.

Food Review – Bon Appetit at The French Baker, Philippines

It’s been a two decades when French Baker opened its doors with their first branch at SM North Edsa. The company has single-handedly revitalized the breadmaking business, turning it into a booming industry.

The French Baker has built its success out of its Founder and President Johnlu G. Koa’s vision for innovation: to take the idea of the neighborhood bakery to the next level, allowing every Filipino to enjoy freshly-baked, high-quality, and affordable breads.

And because The French Baker has a special place in my heart. (Dito kami madalas mag date ni daddy A). We ate our lunch here yesterday to reminisced the past. Hahaha..

The order- For starter they gave us complimentary Mushroom soup.

For mains daddy A tried our favorite HICKORY SPARERIBS it’s juicy pork spareribs topped with Hickory BBQ sauce and sided with pan-roasted seasonal vegetables and rice.

While I ordered the PORK CHOP AU POIVRE it’s 2pcs herb marinated pork chop, grilled ala carte in brown peppercorn sauce and sided with pan-roasted seasonal vegetables and rice

For refreshment we sampled the  BREWED CITRUS ICED TEA with min leaves.

Naturally, temptation got the better of us and we ordered Oreo Cheesecake which is an epic fail. It’s so bland and complete waste of money.

The verdict – Delectable French cuisine that can be tailored to meet every filipinos desires.

Food Review – Yakimix Sushi Smokeless Grill Restaurant.

Craving for sushi lately? Enjoy a wide array of fresh, yummy and mouth watering sushi at Yakimix.

The month of July is the busiest month in our family so many birthdays to celebrate.

Like my advance birthday celebration last Saturday at Yakimix Sushi Smokeless Grill Restaurant.

The menu – Just like other buffet restaurants, Yakimix serves a wide range of food and drinks. You can have a taste of Japanese dishes, Korean dishes and Chinese cuisine. Fan of sushi? They have a wide variety of different sushi here at Yakimix. Enjoy different kinds of korean soups, noodles, and also desserts.

What i loved about Yakimix is that you can have your favorite food grilled at your own table. Staffs will set up the built-in grill at your table. Choose from different food that you wish to grill – seafood, fish cuts, bacon, different food on sticks, and so much more. It’s so much fun grilling them and eat them hot and fresh.

Not a fan of grilling? Then you may also enjoyed the buffet with different kind of dishes from pizza, dimsum to lechon kawali.

Let’s proceed to sweets.Desserts are plenty so you can actually have a try of each food and choose which one you prefer the most.  Their desserts are actually really good – especially their leche flan.

Yakimix also served Halo-Halo, Ice Cream, Gummies, Candies,Nestle Popsicles and Fresh fruits.

The verdict – I highly recommend Yakimix. I actually cannot wait to go back there again. The price is pretty affordable too. For around P600 per head for lunch or diner buffet, I’d say it’s affordable.

Dubai Dining – Sweet treat at Shakespeare and Co. Restaurant – Dubai Mall

It seemed that a piece of England had found a nook for itself in Dubai Mall.

The ambience- Shakespeare and Co. is designed in a very colorful Victorian style…

The décors – are inspired by the hallmarks of a bygone era – 18th Century Europe, a period when elegance, luxury, and exquisite attention to detail was de rigeur. From plush upholstery encased with antique frames to intricate chandeliers and vintage centerpieces, classically majestic, awe-inspiring union of colour.

The menu
– The menu comprises classic dishes from the world’s favorite cuisines – in essence, reflecting the rich diversity of the patrons who visit the restaurants. They use classic methods and fresh ingredients;quickly prepared, craveable meals that persuade a nostalgic feeling of home.

It’s composed by an array of salads, sandwiches, wraps, eggs Benedict, crêpes, pasta, milkshakes and the juices are fantastic.

The orders – None of us are hungry so we opted to try their cakes and milkshakes. We feast on a slice of Mille Feuille, a puff pastry cake with layered of vanilla filling, a piece of Mogador Chocolate, it’s a chocolate sponge cake with mousse and praline cream. We also craved for a Raspberry Cheesecake topped with fresh strawberries.

For beverages we enjoyed Chocolate Milkshake and Chocolate Cappuccino and a scoop of Strawberry Ice Cream. We just don’t like sweets😛

When we told them that the cake is for birthday they got the correct spelling of the name of the celebrant and add candle for blowing.

The verdict – The service was good… staff are welcoming! The place creates a truly extraordinary environment that oozes comfort and encourages great conversation.

Shakespeare and Co.  is located on the first floor of the mall, opposite Galerie Lafayette and easily accessible from the grand parking levels.  Open from 7AM – 12AM everyday of the week.

Dubai Dining – Birthday celebration at The Texas Roadhouse – Dubai Mall

We are meat lovers and so for Raquiza’s 30th birthday celebration The Texas Roadhouse wins unanimously.  Texas Roadhouse at Dubai Mall is a great place to go if you want to experience the hand-cut steaks, award winning ribs, fresh baked bread, and made from scratch side items.

The orders– Looking at the comprehensive menu,we were overwhelmed with mouth-watering choices and was delighted to start with complimentary glazed cinnamon bread with cinnamon-infused butter.

And while we are waiting for our order we were also given a bucket of free nuts to munch.

For main course, daddy A indulged himself with 10 oz flavorful and juicy Ribeye Steak with seasoned rice.

I ordered Ribeye Steak and Shrimp combo while Raquiza enjoyed her Ribeye Steak with Beef Rib.

We also ordered Oven Roasted Chicken for Tita Miriam. It’s a half chicken, trimmed, uniquely seasoned then slow-roasted for the perfect tenderness. They also give her signature barbecue sauce for added flavor. Then Kuya Angelo and Inigo shared the Mini-Cheeseburger with fries.

Our main dish was served with a choice made from scratch two side dishes.

The Verdict – What a fun evening it was. A good meal guarantees a good time and great food make for great memories with the birthday celebrant.

Dubai Dining – Isa pa..Isa pa..Isa Pang Chicken Joy at Jollibee Dubai Mall

We had not been very sure where to go for breakfast last week while waiting for Kuya Angelo’s school dismissal. Since his school is just few minutes away from Dubai Mall , we decided to check how the queue going on after our first visit during their opening day.

So it’s true that if you’ll come on weekdays and the mall is just about to open, you don’t need to wait for 6-7 hours just to place your orders.

I remembered the first time I visited Jollibee, the queue snaked all the way next to the fast food restaurant. However, the queue moved rather quickly due to their more organized system. Anyhow, we were there around 10am and went straight to food court. We were so surprised that we need to get our number from the Token Machine.

At 10:05 we were already at number 1173. And they were serving number 1150 at that time. The security told us that it might take an hour or so, but even if we come later we don’t need to wait in queue and can proceed. Our number called around 12pm that’s two hours of waiting.

We came back because of the Chicken Joy so it’s obvious that we will order a bucket of full of joy!

The first time I visited Jollibee, I admit I went with much of expectation. I told myself not to expect much as their chicken must be over-hyped and just a fad which will die down soon.

The order– We ordered the CB2 which was good for 3 persons. It’s a package meal that comes with 6pcs Chicken Joy, 3pcs Spaghetti, 3pcs Chocolate Sundae and 3pcs of Pepsi. I also ordered Burger Steak and Regular Yum for Kuya Angelo. It’s his favorite!

Moment of Truth, is this hype really worth the time? YES!  To conclude Jollibee’s Chickenjoy has this“crispy-licious” skin and taste that is very similar to what we used to have in our home country in terms of texture. The chicken meat is juicy, soft, and tender .

I also have to mention I enjoy eating the rice with the brown gravy drizzled over it. The rice is very soft and when eaten together with the gravy, it is oh such comfort food!

The cost – CB 2 cost aed 65 while the Jolly Burger Steak without drink is aed 13 and the Regular Yum is aed 7.

The verdict -If you’re looking for a filled stomach, a satisfied chicken craving, and more value for your money, you can consider heading to Jollibee. We become such huge fans of this bee and we will definitely come back for more!

Sharjah Dining – Eating well at Russo Sahara Mall

This week we discovered Russo New York Pizzeria at Sahara Mall Centre. Thanks to Emirates NBD voucher we’ve got to taste Italian dishes at a discounted price.

Russo New York Pizzeria is remarkably known for serving the finest and freshest Italian Cuisine. With extreme preparation of pure ingredients and the execution of memorable Italian dishes.

The place –  Cozy interior, cool service and freshest products ensures that all customers who walk through the door keep customers coming back for more.

The orders – While browsing their menu we were given a plate of thin crust bread along with trio dipping sauce. It’s delish!

For  starter we ordered WINGS FRA DIAVOLO – a jumbo spicy buffalo wings served with a side of blue cheese. This dish is too salty for my taste. I should have choose Calamari sana! Sayang!

Come main course, we were so over-whelmed with the delicious-sounding, freshly prepared  menu that we allowed our enthusiastic waitress, to help us what to order. She told us we should devour the Chicken Parmigiana– it’a tender chicken breast lightly seasoned with Italian breadcrumbs, topped with Russo’s homemade marinara sauce and all natural mozzarella cheese on freshly prepared spaghetti and that we did.

But the dish that got the best response was the healthy serving of SHRIMP FRA DIAVOLA – shrimp sautéed with spicy hot marinara sauce and fresh basil, on a generous portion of fresh spaghetti – there were enough prawns to feed two.

Then the food trip didn’t stop yet as we also tried their oven brick and hand – tossed pizza which is made from 100% Italian semolina wheat with no additives or preservatives. We chose the NEW YORK VILLAGE – a cured pepperoni, Italian sausage, fresh mushrooms, black olives, flavorful bell peppers, white onions, hamburger, and all-natural mozzarella cheese atop with homemade pizza sauce.

Verdict – You can’t go wrong with their food. And your rumbling tummy will be undeniably filled to have the super rich flavours of Italian dishes. Whether eat with friends or your loved ones over the weekend pizza and pasta are a must.

Thank you sister Raquiza for our sumptous bonding. Such an early treat for your upcoming birthday.
