Banana Oat Muffins

Banana Oat Chocolate chip muffin

Being a mother of a picky eater I always wanted to come up with a snack that is healthy and quick. Little A is not fond of eating fruits but he loves muffins. Upon searching for a recipe that combines fruits and oat I’ve found out that eating two bananas is enough to replace the nutrients lost as well as replenishing energy.Children are growing all the time and they need the energy provided by bananas. Whereas research reveals that oatmeal is a good source of protein and iron. That’s it this is what I want a healthy snack!

BANANA + OAT = Scrumptious but healthy treats.

Ingredients
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup white sugar
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 egg
3/4 cup milk
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup mashed bananas
Directions Combine flour, oats, sugar, baking powder, soda, and salt. In a large bowl, beat the egg lightly. Stir in the milk, oil, and vanilla. Add the mashed banana, and combine thoroughly. Stir the flour mixture into the banana mixture until just combined. Line a 12-cup muffin tin with paper bake cups, and divide the batter among them. Bake at 400 degrees F (205 degrees C) for 18 to 20 minutes.

Nothing smells as good as muffins fresh from the oven!

The muffins were really moist and chocolatey. I added chocolate chips for him..hehe. The little boy enjoyed the yummy-ness!!

Dinosaur ROAR painting

the invitation

For another fun dinosaur activity we painted the dinosaur feet. We used our dinosaur toys, brush and dish of green paint.

Little A paint their feet with brush and stomped them across a piece of paper, making dinosaur foot prints.

During the process I asked little A to compare the sizes of different dinosaur footprints. Learning the example of big and small. Later on he realized that he also wanted to see his own handprint..

We ended our day getting messy, having fun and learning about dinosaurs..

Dinomite Sensory tub

Sensory tub has been on my list of things to do for quite sometime. So last Saturday I made a dinosaur sensory tub to go along with our dinosaur theme/activities.

Presenting our “Dinomite Sensory tub”..

the invitation

Here what’s inside:

White munggo beans

Mini Trees

Dinosaur toys

Marbles

I was not surprised when little A couldn’t wait to play in it. I gave him measuring spoons (for scooping) and empty container (for pouring).

See how much he’s interested in the tub.

Reseach says that the length of a child’s attention span depends on how interesting is the activity being presented. Seems that our sensory tub is the biggest hit so far. Little A  played with the dinosaurs for over an hour.

Thursday Dose of positivity

“Are you happy mommy”? Whenever little A would run to us he will definitely ask us if we are happy. Once you smiled to him and replied “Of course, I am happy because we are together” he will asked you to clap your hands. You know why?. It’s because of the song ‘If you’re HAPPY and you know, you clap your hands’..hehe

One time when we passed by Deira Dubai along Etisalat road little A saw an airplane.Look mommy what’s that?  An airplaine I replied. Then little A would say “mommy I want to ride”. So  I answered him “If you want to ride on the plane then you have to pray to Papa Jesus to bless us so we can go home this year. All of sudden we heard him prayed “Papa Jesus,I want to ride on the airplane, please help us save money”..

Little A’s memory is very sharp as in! One day when we are passing the Dubai-Sharjah road. Little A asked me if we will go to church. It’s the same way going to St. Martin Church. I said ‘no’ next Friday again. Then he said “No mommy let’s go to church,God is great”..

Quality time – Dubai Zoo

As a treat to the little boy who patiently waited for his mommy to finish her medical fitness exam for the renewal of visa, we went to Dubai Zoo. It was 5pm when we arrived there. Since its Thursday the zoo was not that crowded. It took us roughly 30-45 minutes to see everything.

Dubai zoo is situated opposite the Jumeirah Beach. It is the oldest in the city and has a small collection of animals. It offers unique variety of animals as well as other species. It is a special place of interest and fun for tourists and residence of Dubai

You don’t need to go all the way to Al Ain to make your child happy. Just pay Dhs 2 and you can see the excitement in their face.

Little A can see animals including Gorilla, Giraffe, Arabian Wolves, Lions, Tigers and others. It is reputed to hold over 200 species. It has very little claim to fame but has bred many of the species it keeps including Arabian Wild Cat and Chimpanzee.

While the topic on closing the zoo is still under discussion. Let little A savour the moment of seeing them up close and personal.
